Teflon
Although perfluorooctanoic acid, a suspected carcinogen) is used
to manufacture Teflon; and is known to be cancer causing material.
This carcinogen is not present after the product is finished. Though
we want to believe that anything is possible, this is not . There
are many lawsuits out there that are claiming that teflon is giving
us cancer. However, once the product is at the end of the production
line. It is free of any cancer causing elements. Teflon can cause
harmful elements in the air if is it used not in consice with it's
labeling. Teflon may release toxins in the air when deep frying,
and broiling, but this is not to say that one may not cook in this
form of fashion. You the consumer needt ot be aware of the dangers
of cooking with Teflon, and take the right precautions, when using
these products.
One of my old roommates was cooking hot dogs in a teflon pan one
night. Well he fell asleep, and the pan started burning. this was
about 20 years ago. While we all sleep in other rooms. the pan was
literally on fire, and the hot dogs had discentergrated, and the
fumes form the pan damn near killed us; that's was due to the flames
being so high under the pan. So it is always a good idea to use
a low flame when using Teflon coated products. This was you can
enjoy the ease of cooking, and feeling safe while using teflon products.
